Information Technology Jobs in Singapore

A practical map of Singapore IT hiring: software, data, cloud, and cybersecurity, plus Tech.Pass changes and SkillsFuture upskilling.

A practical map of IT hiring in Singapore

Information technology in Singapore is a set of occupations, not a single job title. Software engineers, data practitioners, cloud engineers, and cybersecurity specialists are hired by technology firms, banks, public agencies, hospitals, manufacturers, and consultancies. The work can look similar on LinkedIn and completely different in an interview. A payments engineer inside a bank is not doing the same job as a product engineer in a start-up, even if both write services in the same language.

Search the live board for information technology jobs, then use jobs by skill for the tools you can defend in a technical screen. Compare hybrid and office patterns on hybrid jobs and the general jobs board. If you are early in your career, add fresher jobs in Singapore rather than only applying to “senior” titles.

This article covers software, data, cloud, and cyber paths, SkillsFuture as an official upskilling route, and the official Tech.Pass facts you should use in 2026 — including the $22,500 last-drawn salary criterion and the close of new and renewal applications from 28 January 2027, with MOM to introduce ONE Pass (AI and Tech). It does not invent IT salary bands by language, years of experience, or job title. When a number is not official, you are sent to the source.

Software engineering and product delivery

Software hiring still dominates the IT board: backend, frontend, mobile, full-stack, platform, and quality engineering. Employers care whether you have shipped and operated something, not whether you can recite a framework’s marketing page. Write the system, the users, the constraint, and what changed because of your work. “Improved performance” is weaker than “cut the p95 of the checkout path and how I measured it”.

Singapore interviews often include a recruiter screen, a technical conversation, and a hiring-manager round. Some teams still use take-home exercises; some use live problem-solving. Prepare the way you would for any serious engineering interview: recent code you can discuss, a production incident you handled, and a design trade-off you would make differently now. For interview structure beyond the technical loop, see how to prepare for a job interview in Singapore.

Common software-adjacent titles you will see, without treating them as an official demand ranking:

  • software engineer or backend engineer;
  • frontend or mobile engineer;
  • site reliability or platform engineer;
  • quality engineer or SDET;
  • engineering manager, once you have actually led delivery.

Do not relabel a support job as “software engineer” if you have not been writing and shipping production code. Hiring managers in Singapore will test the claim in the first technical call.

Where software work sits

Technology product companies, banks and insurers, public-sector digital teams, and in-house teams in logistics, healthcare, and retail all hire software engineers. The Fair Consideration Framework still applies when those employers intend to sponsor an Employment Pass or S Pass, unless an exemption applies. That is why many professional IT roles also appear on MyCareersFuture for 14 consecutive days before a pass application. Hybrid patterns are more common in software than in clinical or site work, but full-remote remains the smaller list. Read work-from-home and hybrid jobs before you assume a tech title means you never come in.

Data roles: analysis, engineering, and science

Data job titles are noisy. “Data analyst”, “analytics engineer”, “data engineer”, “machine learning engineer”, and “data scientist” overlap in adverts and mean different things inside a company. Read the first ten lines of the job description for the actual stack and the decision the team supports. If the role is dashboarding and SQL for a business team, a research-science resume will look mismatched. If the role is pipelines and warehousing, a visualisation-only resume will fail the screen.

A clean way to describe your work:

  • the data you owned or regularly used, and its grain;
  • the transformations you built or maintained;
  • the decision, model, or product the data supported;
  • how you handled quality, access control, and audit.

Regulated sectors — finance, healthcare, public service — will ask about data governance even at mid-level. You do not need to invent a certification list. Name the controls you have actually followed. If you are changing into data work from another function, SkillsFuture and Workforce Singapore programmes are a more honest path than a weekend certificate with a job-guarantee slogan. Start at SkillsFuture and Workforce Singapore.

This article will not publish an official “data scientist salary in Singapore”. Unofficial surveys exist; they are not MOM tables. Official income context is the Labour Force in Singapore 2025 median gross monthly income of $5,775 for full-time employed residents and $9,038 for degree holders. Those are resident medians, not data-role offers. See the Labour Force 2025 findings.

Cloud and infrastructure engineering

Cloud roles in Singapore sit between software and traditional infrastructure. Titles include cloud engineer, cloud security engineer, DevOps engineer, platform engineer, and infrastructure engineer. Some adverts are really systems-administrator jobs with a cloud logo. Others are software jobs that happen to run on a public cloud. Ask what you would be on call for, and which accounts or landing zones you would own.

Evidence that reads well:

  • a landing zone, network, or identity design you implemented;
  • an incident you diagnosed across application and platform;
  • cost or reliability work with a measurement, not a slogan;
  • infrastructure-as-code you can open and explain.

Data-centre and facilities work is a different occupation from cloud software, even when the employer is a technology firm. If you are a mechanical or electrical engineer moving toward data-centre facilities, read engineering jobs in Singapore as well as this page. Do not apply to a Kubernetes platform role with only a facilities resume, or the reverse.

Cloud certifications can help a screen; they do not replace production evidence. If you list one, be ready to talk about a decision the exam does not cover: a failed change, a regional outage, or a security review that blocked a shortcut.

Cybersecurity: from operations to assurance

Cyber hiring covers security operations, detection engineering, identity, application security, governance, risk and compliance, and specialist areas such as operational-technology security. Public agencies, financial institutions, and large operators take these roles seriously because incidents are expensive and, in some sectors, reportable. That does not mean every “cyber” advert is a senior hunter role. Many are analyst or coordinator jobs. Read the shift pattern and the ticket queue description.

Write what you have handled: a class of alert, a control you implemented, an audit finding you closed, an application review you completed. Do not imply access to classified or client-confidential detail. Interviewers would rather hear a sanitised, accurate story than a dramatic one you cannot discuss.

Cyber is also a common mid-career pivot. If you are pivoting, be precise about the entry role you want — SOC analyst, GRC associate, identity administrator — and use official skills programmes rather than a random “hacker bootcamp” brand. SkillsFuture is the government skills portal to check first.

SkillsFuture and career tools you should actually open

SkillsFuture is the official skills and training portal for Singapore. It is not a job board, and a course completion is not a job offer. Use it to find current programmes, credits, and career-related resources that match the occupation you are moving into. The site to start from is skillsfuture.gov.sg.

Workforce Singapore provides career matching and programmes for individuals and employers. If you are unemployed, mid-career, or changing occupation, use SWDA rather than only sending cold emails. MyCareersFuture remains the public job portal that also underpins Fair Consideration Framework advertising.

A sensible upskilling sequence:

  1. Name the occupation you want in the language of live ads, not in the language of a course brochure.
  2. List the two or three skills the ads repeat (for example, a cloud platform plus infrastructure-as-code, or SQL plus a warehouse tool).
  3. Choose a SkillsFuture-listed programme that teaches those skills, not a generic “tech career” bundle.
  4. Build one portfolio artefact you can discuss: a service, a pipeline, a detection rule, a threat model.
  5. Apply to roles that match that artefact. Do not apply to principal jobs with a two-week project.

Do not treat SkillsFuture as a substitute for a Work Pass. Foreign professionals still need an employer and a pass that fits the job. Training in Singapore does not, by itself, create a right to stay or work. Confirm immigration questions on ICA and pass questions on MOM.

Tech.Pass, the $22,500 criterion, and ONE Pass (AI and Tech)

Tech.Pass is an Economic Development Board programme for established tech professionals. It is not the same as an Employment Pass, and it is not a generic “IT work visa”. If you are evaluating it, read EDB — not a recruiter’s slide.

Check the official source: One published criterion is a last-drawn salary of $22,500. Other criteria, documents, and whether you qualify at all are defined by EDB. New and renewal applications stop from 28 January 2027. MOM will introduce ONE Pass (AI and Tech). Do not invent transition dates, quota numbers, or “who will be auto-converted”. Open the EDB Tech.Pass page and follow MOM announcements for ONE Pass (AI and Tech) as they are published.

Practical implications for jobseekers:

  • If you already hold a Tech.Pass, read EDB for what happens to existing passes and when you must act.
  • If you were planning a 2027 application, do not assume a last-minute filing after 28 January 2027 will be accepted. The published close is the date to work backwards from.
  • If you are a typical software hire, you are more likely to be on an Employment Pass or to be a citizen or PR. Tech.Pass was never the default IT route.
  • Do not write “eligible for Tech.Pass” on a resume as a substitute for evidence of your work. It is not a skill.

The $22,500 figure also appears in Employment Pass rules as a COMPASS exemption threshold and in Fair Consideration Framework advertising exemptions. That coincidence does not make Tech.Pass and EP the same scheme. Read each page on its own terms.

Employment Pass and S Pass — official IT-relevant floors

Most foreign IT professionals who are sponsored by a Singapore employer are on an Employment Pass, not Tech.Pass. Some specialist or mid-level roles are S Pass jobs. The word “engineer” in a title does not choose the pass for you. Salary, age, occupation, and COMPASS (for EP) do.

Check the official source: For Employment Pass new applications before 1 January 2027, qualifying salaries in most sectors start from $5,600 a month at age 23 or below and rise to $10,700 at age 45 and above. Financial services start from $6,200 up to $11,800 — this matters if you are a technologist inside a bank or insurer. From 1 January 2027, new applications use $6,000 to $11,500 in most sectors and $6,600 to $12,700 in financial services. COMPASS requires 40 points unless you are exempt, including where fixed monthly salary is at least $22,500. Confirm on the Employment Pass eligibility page.

Check the official source: S Pass current new applications (from 1 September 2025) and renewals expiring from 1 September 2026 start from $3,300 (age 23 or below) to $4,800 (age 45+) in most sectors, and from $3,800 to $5,650 in financial services. From 1 January 2027, new applications use $3,600 / $5,100 generally and $4,000 as the published financial-services floor. The levy is $650 a month flat from 1 September 2025. Dependants generally need a sponsor salary of at least $6,000. Confirm on the S Pass eligibility page.

Those figures are pass floors, not recommended software, data, cloud, or cyber salaries. This article will not invent a “Java $X, Python $Y” table. For how to read official income figures without treating them as offers, see the salary guide by industry and Employment Pass jobs.

Unless an FCF exemption applies (including company headcount under 10, salary at least $22,500, or a role of one month or less), employers must advertise on MyCareersFuture for 14 consecutive days and must not offer the job during those 14 days. See the Fair Consideration Framework.

How to search IT jobs without keyword stuffing

Pick one occupation for the week. If you apply as a software engineer, a data scientist, and a SOC analyst on the same day, your resume will look unfocused and your interview stories will fight each other. Use JobVacancySG filters, then add a small set of skill keywords you can explain. Avoid pasting every acronym you have seen in a bootcamp syllabus.

A weekly search:

  1. Open IT industry jobs and sort by newest.
  2. Filter full-time or contract depending on how you want to be hired. Contract IT is common in banks and public projects; read the vendor name and the end-client.
  3. If location matters, add hybrid or remote. Remote IT ads exist but are fewer than hybrid. Do not invent a list of “officially remote tech companies”.
  4. Save the search in your dashboard and check MyCareersFuture for the same employers.
  5. Keep a reject pile: roles that need a clearance, a language, or a domain you do not have. A fast no protects your week.

Company research belongs on company pages and on the employer’s own site. For a wider set of portals, use best job search websites in Singapore and the complete 2026 guide.

Resumes for IT: merit, not personal fields

A Singapore IT resume should be easy for both an ATS parser and a hiring manager. Put the occupation, the stack, and two or three shipped outcomes on the first page. Link a professional portfolio if it is public and sanitised. Do not add a photo. Do not list nationality, age, race, religion, or marital status. The Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices expect selection on merit; those personal fields should not be requested on application forms.

Practical formatting is in how to write a Singapore resume and the resume tools. If you are a graduate, show internships, course projects you can defend, and any production exposure. Do not inflate a group assignment into “led a platform team”.

Cover letters are optional for many tech applications. If you write one, use it to connect a single piece of evidence to the team’s problem. Do not paste a SkillsFuture transcript as a letter.

Offers, leave, and what “market rate” is not

When an offer arrives, read the fixed monthly salary separately from bonuses, equity, and allowances. Pass assessments use MOM’s rules, not a recruiter’s “total cash” slide. Employment Act annual leave for covered employees, after three months, is 7 days in year one and rises to 14 days from year eight; many tech contracts give more. Confirm on MOM’s annual leave page.

Household income from SingStat is not your individual offer. The 2025 median household market income of $12,446 is a household figure. Do not use it as a personal target in a software negotiation.

Flexible work is a separate conversation. TG-FWAR, effective 1 December 2024, requires employers to consider formal flexible-work requests and respond within two months. Approval is not automatic. Confirm on MOM’s flexible work arrangements page. A tech employer can still require core office days for security, onboarding, or incident response.

A four-week IT job-search plan

Week 1: choose one occupation (software, data, cloud, or cyber). Rewrite the top of your resume around two shipped outcomes. Remove personal fields. Open SkillsFuture only if a named skill gap is blocking applications, not as procrastination.

Week 2: apply to a short list of roles that match that occupation. Cross-check EP/S Pass implications if you need sponsorship. If Tech.Pass was part of your 2027 plan, read the EDB page this week, not in January.

Week 3: run technical interviews. Keep a log of questions you failed and practise those, not random puzzle sites. Ask about on-call, office days, and whether the role is on a vendor contract.

Week 4: compare written offers on fixed salary, pass feasibility, and the actual work. If you need employer-side context, read how employers can hire the right talent. If you are still mapping demand without invented rankings, see most in-demand jobs in Singapore.

What this article will not invent

It will not publish unofficial salary bands for software, data, cloud, or cyber. It will not list “official remote-first tech companies”. It will not treat Tech.Pass as a general IT visa, and it will not invent ONE Pass (AI and Tech) criteria before MOM publishes them. It will not tell you to put a photo or nationality on a resume to look like a “cultural fit” for a Singapore tech team.

IT hiring hubs, skills, and a public profile

Product and platform teams often advertise around one-north. Banks and regional HQs still sit in the Downtown Core and near Raffles Place MRT. In-house IT in the East appears on Tampines, Tampines MRT, and Bedok MRT. Start the functional search from Python jobs and jobs by skill, then open the industry list at information technology jobs.

Keep GitHub, cloud certs, and notice period on one profile. Publish a Career Passport if you want inbound messages to land on a page you control. Register so the dashboard can hold the pipeline. Employers use pricing to post those seats.

Frequently asked questions

What IT jobs are available in Singapore?

Live ads commonly include software engineering, data and analytics, cloud and platform work, and cybersecurity, across technology firms, banks, the public sector, and in-house teams. That is a description of vacancy patterns, not an official ranking. Use the IT jobs board and MyCareersFuture to see this week’s titles.

What is the Tech.Pass salary criterion, and when do applications close?

EDB publishes a last-drawn salary criterion of $22,500, among other requirements. New and renewal applications stop from 28 January 2027. MOM will introduce ONE Pass (AI and Tech). Read the EDB Tech.Pass page for current criteria and follow MOM for ONE Pass details. Do not rely on unofficial conversion stories.

Are there official IT salary bands by programming language?

No official MOM table sets pay by language or framework. What you can cite are resident income medians from the Labour Force in Singapore 2025 ($5,775 overall for full-time employed residents; $9,038 for degree holders) and official EP/S Pass floors. Treat unofficial “Java versus Python” charts as unofficial.

Should I put a photo or my nationality on an IT resume?

No. Employers should select on merit. Photos and fields such as nationality, age, race, religion, or marital status should not be treated as required or preferred on a resume or application form. TAFEP’s fair-employment guidelines are the reference.

Does SkillsFuture get me an Employment Pass?

No. SkillsFuture is a skills and training portal. An Employment Pass is an MOM work pass with its own salary, COMPASS, and advertising rules. Completing a course does not create pass eligibility. Check MOM for passes and SkillsFuture for training.

Is full-remote common for Singapore IT jobs?

Hybrid appears more often than full-remote. Some software and digital roles are advertised as remote, usually still requiring you to be based in Singapore. Filter remote and hybrid separately. TG-FWAR gives a request process after you are employed; it does not make every tech job remote.
