Malaysian jobs in Singapore

How Malaysians typically get hired in Singapore, what MOM decides, and the live vacancies on JobVacancySG.

Start with the listings, not a promise

Malaysians look at Singapore for a short commute home, English-speaking workplaces, and pay that is often compared with jobs in Johor, Kuala Lumpur, or Penang. This page is a practical guide to that search. It is not a guarantee of a job, a pass, or a salary.

The list below is built from live JobVacancySG vacancies. Nationality is not stored on a job, so the list is not a private board of “Malaysian-only” roles. Employers hire people who can do the work and whom they can legally employ.

How this list is chosen

JobVacancySG does not treat nationality or gender as a vacancy filter unless an employer has a legitimate, documented requirement. The vacancies below are current live listings. They are not a private shortlist for one nationality or gender. A listing is not a statement that the employer accepts a particular group of candidates unless the job text says so.

What “a job in Singapore for a Malaysian” actually means

There is no MOM category called a Malaysian job. There are jobs in Singapore, and there are passes an employer may use if they want to hire a Malaysian who is not a citizen or permanent resident. Some Malaysians already hold PR or citizenship and do not need a work pass at all. Others need the employer to apply for an Employment Pass, an S Pass, or a Work Permit, depending on the occupation, salary, sector, and quota.

Daily and weekly cross-border work is common in some operations, logistics, and service roles, but the employer still has to be set up to hire you. A listing that says “Singapore” does not, by itself, mean the company will sponsor a new pass or accept a commuter from Johor.

Passes, without the sales pitch

Singapore work passes are applied for by the employer, not by the candidate. A job advertisement is not an approval from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), and JobVacancySG cannot tell you which pass an employer will use.

Employment Pass rules, including qualifying salary and COMPASS, are on MOM’s Employment Pass eligibility page. S Pass qualifying salary, levy, and quota are on MOM’s S Pass eligibility page and the levy and quota page. Work Permit sector rules start at MOM’s Work Permit for foreign worker hub. Read the live page before you treat any blog or landing page as the rule.

Where a role is advertised to locals first, the Fair Consideration Framework sits on MOM’s FCF page. Hiring should also follow the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices. JobVacancySG does not filter or rank vacancies by nationality, race, or gender.

Qualifications Malaysian applicants are often asked about

Recruiters in Singapore usually ask for the highest qualification that matches the role: SPM or an equivalent secondary certificate, a diploma, a degree, or a professional credential such as LCCI for some accounts and admin work. SPM is not the same thing as Singapore’s GCE O-Level, and a degree is not a pass. Put the real certificate name on your profile. Do not upgrade it.

Our Malaysian SPM page and Malaysian degree page explain those two cases separately. LCCI, where an employer mentions it, is covered on the LCCI page. None of those pages claim a certificate is mandatory unless the listing says so.

How to read the vacancies on this page

The vacancies on this page are real JobVacancySG listings. If a filter cannot be applied to the job database, the page says so and does not invent a count. Because nationality cannot be filtered honestly, you are seeing current vacancies rather than a manufactured “Malaysian jobs” count. When nothing matches, the page says that no matching vacancies are currently available and invites you to register. It does not show sample jobs.

Open a job for the employer’s own description, location, and salary if one was published. Use Quick Apply only where the listing accepts applications. Register a candidate profile if you want JobVacancySG to hold your details for roles you choose to apply for. Registration does not submit an application by itself.

For the wider market, MOM’s labour-force statistics are on Labour Force in Singapore. Those medians describe residents in the official survey. They are not an offer and they are not a forecast of what a Malaysian new hire will be paid. Leave and other Employment Act basics, where the Act applies, are on MOM’s annual leave page.

A sensible search order

Decide the work you can evidence: job title, years, tools, and language. Malay is an advantage in some customer and operations roles; it is not a substitute for the skill the employer asked for. Mandarin matters in some workplaces and is irrelevant in others. Say what you actually use at work.

Then filter the live list by function or industry inside job search, read two or three real descriptions, and only then talk about pass type with the employer. If you need S Pass context, use the S Pass page on this site and the MOM eligibility page together. If the list on this page is empty, that is the current board, not a hidden stock of roles.

Commuting and relocation are different plans

Some Malaysian candidates intend to commute. Others intend to rent in Singapore. Those choices change which shifts are realistic and which employers will proceed. Say which one you mean when an employer asks. The vacancy will not guess.

A role in Tuas and a role in the city are not interchangeable just because both are in Singapore. Use the location on the card. If you need a planning area or an MRT filter, continue in job search. Those filters exist. Nationality does not.

Family members and dependants are a separate MOM topic. Do not assume a job on this page includes a dependant arrangement. Ask, and read the official page for the pass the employer actually names.

How to search without treating nationality as a filter

Start from the work you can evidence, then open job search and add a location, an industry, or a functional area. The industry directory and the qualification directory are indexes of live taxonomy pages. They are not Malaysian boards. Administration is a functional area. Construction is an industry. The S Pass page is a visa-type query and can be empty.

When you apply, use the job detail page. Quick Apply appears only if that vacancy still accepts applications. Register your profile so your education and work history are ready. Registration does not file an application and does not tell an employer that you are Malaysian.

FAQ

Does JobVacancySG only show jobs that accept Malaysians?

No. Vacancies are not tagged by nationality. The list is current live jobs, and each employer decides who they can hire.

Will a job on this page come with a work pass?

No. The employer applies for any pass, and MOM decides. A listing is not an approval.

Is SPM enough for every Singapore job?

No. SPM may be relevant for some roles and insufficient for others. Read the listing. Basic-skilled Work Permit rules are MOM’s, not a promise attached to SPM.

Can I apply from Malaysia?

You can apply to listings that accept applications. Whether the employer will hire a candidate who needs a pass, or who would commute, is their decision.
