Singapore Resume Format: Examples and Templates
Resume layouts that work in Singapore for graduates, mid-career professionals, and managers, with example sections you can copy and adapt.
How to use these templates
These layouts are working patterns for Singapore applications, not official government forms. There is no MOM-mandated resume format. There is a practical format that hiring managers finish: a clear header, a short summary, reverse-chronological work, skills, and education or licences. The examples below show that pattern for three stages: a fresh graduate, a mid-career professional, and a manager. The names, employers, and figures are fictional and realistic. They are not official statistics, not claims about any real company, and not salary advice.
Read this alongside how to write a Singapore resume that gets interviews, which covers merit, tailoring, and what to leave off. TAFEP’s position is that employers should select on merit and should not request photographs, age, race, religion, marital status, or nationality on application forms. None of the templates below include those fields. Do not add them when you copy the structure. See the Tripartite Guidelines and TAFEP’s page on application forms.
Use one template per title family. Change the bullets so they are yours. If a number is not something you can defend in an interview, replace it with scope: sites, reports, systems, class sizes, or shift patterns. Then apply through jobs in Singapore and MyCareersFuture rather than collecting unused PDFs.
Shared section order that works in Singapore
Use this order unless you have a strong reason to invert it. Header. Professional summary (three or four lines). Experience (or “Relevant experience” plus “Other experience” if you are switching). Skills and tools. Education. Licences and professional memberships. Optional: selected projects, languages used at work, volunteer work that produced a result. Optional and short: interests only if they prove a skill the job needs ( officiating, open-source, community teaching).
Do not open with a photograph block, a personal-particulars table, or a visa stamp. Do not put references on the page. Do not put an expected salary on the page unless an advertisement forces that line into the file. Pay context belongs in a form or a conversation. Official labour-market medians are published by MOM; they are not a resume section. The 2025 median gross monthly income for full-time employed residents was $5,775, and $9,038 for degree holders. Those figures describe employed residents, not your asking price. Check the MOM 2025 labour force findings if you need the tables. SingStat household income is a household series; see SingStat.
Length: one tight page or two for graduates; two pages for most mid-career files; two to three for managers when the extra page is evidence. Export a simple PDF. Draft in the resume tools if you want a clean starting file, then delete anything the software added that looks like decoration.
Work arrangement and employment type are facts you can state in the summary when they constrain you. Use the same words employers use on hybrid, onsite, full-time, and contract listings. Do not invent a “fully remote global” line if the work is a Singapore roster.
Graduate template (about one to two pages)
Who it is for: polytechnic or university leavers, and people with internships plus a final-year project. Who it is not for: anyone with five years of relevant work who is pretending to be junior to “look humble”. If you have real work, use the mid-career pattern and shorten older study.
Header example (fictional):
Priya Nair
Singapore · 9xxx xxxx · [email protected] · linkedin.com/in/example-priya
Target: graduate business analyst or operations analyst, full-time, hybrid acceptable
Summary example: “Recent NUS business analytics graduate. Internship at a regional retailer covering weekly demand reports for 12 stores. Coursework in SQL and basic Python. Looking for an analyst role where I can own a recurring report and sit with operations, not only with slides.”
That summary names a destination title, a setting, and a proof. It does not say “eager beaver”. It does not mention age, nationality, or a photo. It does not claim an official industry ranking for the university.
Graduate experience and project bullets
Internship bullets should sound like work. Fictional example under “RetailOps Pte Ltd, Operations intern, Singapore, May–Aug 2025”:
- Built a weekly stock-out dashboard in Excel and SQL for 12 stores; store managers used it in Monday huddles from week four of the internship.
- Traced 30 late purchase orders to a single vendor cut-off issue and wrote a one-page note the buyer used in the next vendor meeting.
- Documented the intern handover in a shared folder so the next intern could run the dashboard without a live walkthrough.
Final-year project bullets belong if they map to the job. Fictional example:
- Predicted next-day cafeteria demand for a campus stall using three months of till data; mean absolute error was lower than the stall’s previous rule of thumb on a held-out two-week test.
- Presented limitations clearly: small sample, one location, no public holiday coverage. Did not claim a city-wide model.
Campus leadership counts when it produced an operation. “Vice-president of the hiking club” is thin. “Organised four weekend trips for 20 people, collected fees, and closed the accounts with no shortfall” is a bullet. Teaching assistant work counts when you name the module and the task: marking, labs, or consultation hours.
Education block: institution, award, year, a few relevant modules. Do not list every general-education class. Do not invent a first-class honour you do not have. If you used SkillsFuture or another course to add SQL or a design tool, put it under education or a short courses line with the provider and year. Start at SkillsFuture and WSG for official programme information, not for a fake certificate name.
Skills block for this fictional graduate: SQL (joins, simple window functions), Excel (pivot tables, INDEX/MATCH), basic Python (pandas for cleaning), stakeholder notes. That is enough. “Leadership, teamwork, Microsoft Office, Canva” is not a skills block. Language lines should describe use: “Wrote internship emails in English; conducted stall-owner interviews in Mandarin.”
What this graduate should not add: a headshot in the header, a full home address, religion, marital status, or a paragraph about being a “global citizen”. If the person needs a Work Pass, that conversation belongs with HR and MOM, and the detail sits in Employment Pass or S Pass articles, not as a flag on page one.
Where to send this file: campus portals, fresher jobs, internship filters on internship jobs, and graduate programmes on company sites. Read jobs in Singapore for fresh graduates before you spray 80 copies.
Mid-career template (about two pages)
Who it is for: roughly five to fifteen years of relevant work, individual contributor or first-line supervisor. The first page should show the last two roles in enough detail that a manager can decide to call you without turning the page.
Header example (fictional):
Marcus Tan
Singapore · 8xxx xxxx · [email protected] · portfolio.example.sg
Target: mechanical maintenance engineer, onsite, full-time or renewable contract
Summary example: “Maintenance engineer with eight years on rotating equipment in food manufacturing. Planned shutdowns for two filling lines, reduced repeat bearing failures by changing lubrication intervals, and trained technicians on lock-out procedures. Comfortable with CMMS work orders and contractor permits.”
This summary is industry-specific on purpose. A mid-career file that could sit on any engineer’s desk is a weak file. Check live language on engineering jobs, manufacturing jobs, and construction jobs if that is your field. IT specialists should do the same on IT jobs and the IT jobs article.
Mid-career experience bullets
Fictional role: “Harbour Foods Manufacturing, Mechanical engineer, Singapore, 2021–present”.
- Owned planned maintenance for two filling lines (about 18 rotating assets). Cut repeat bearing failures on Line B after a lubrication-interval change; recorded the change in the CMMS so the next shutdown used the new interval.
- Wrote isolation and permit steps for a weekend pump replacement; no recordable incident on that job, and the line restarted on the Monday plan.
- Reviewed contractor method statements for three shutdowns a year; rejected one lifting plan that did not match the site’s exclusion-zone rule.
- Trained six technicians on a new lock-out checklist; spot checks over the following quarter showed the checklist in use on sampled jobs.
Notice what is missing: a claim that the company is “the leading food manufacturer in ASEAN”, a fake award from a magazine, and a percentage that the writer could not source. Repeat failures, number of assets, and whether a line restarted on plan are the kinds of facts a supervisor can discuss. If you do not have a failure log, write the scope you owned and one change you made.
Older role, compressed (fictional): “East Wharf Engineering, Assistant engineer, 2017–2021. Supported vibration rounds on shipyard rotating equipment; prepared spare lists for two docking periods; updated as-built sketches after pump relocations.” Three lines can cover four years if the current role is the one that matches the advertisement.
Skills block example: CMMS (work orders, history), isolation and permit-to-work, rotating equipment, contractor control, basic vibration notes, AutoCAD mark-ups. Certifications sit next: a real first-aid certificate, a real lifting supervisor ticket, a real professional registration if you have it. Do not list a “PMP-equivalent” you invented.
Education can be short: diploma or degree, institution, year. NS can be one line if you want the dates explained. Volunteer work belongs if it is a first-aider duty or a union safety role you actually held, not a walkathon.
Career-switch variant: put a “Relevant experience” group first. A teacher moving into instructional design would lead with course-writing and LMS work, then list classroom years more briefly. A nurse moving into healthcare operations would lead with roster, incident, and vendor coordination. See healthcare jobs and education jobs for destination language. Do not hide the previous profession. Explain the bridge in the summary and, if needed, in a cover letter.
Manager template (two to three pages)
Who it is for: people who own a team, a budget, a shift pattern, or a multi-site function. The reader wants span of control, the decisions you made, and how you handled other people’s work. Titles vary. “Lead”, “head”, “manager”, and “assistant director” are not comparable across firms. The bullets must show the span.
Header example (fictional):
Aisha Rahman
Singapore · 9xxx xxxx · [email protected]
Target: finance manager (commercial or regional controllership), hybrid
Summary example: “Finance manager who has closed a monthly pack for a Singapore trading entity and two overseas branches, supervised three accountants, and sat with sales on pricing exceptions. Comfortable with audit queries, GST returns, and a forecast that operations will actually use. Looking for a role where the finance calendar is mine to run, not only to comment on.”
This is still merit language. It does not say “dynamic leader of diverse teams”. Diversity as identity is not a resume strategy. What you did with a team of three is.
Manager experience bullets
Fictional role: “Southridge Trading, Finance manager, Singapore, 2022–present”.
- Ran month-end for the Singapore entity and two branches; pack issued to the MD by working day six in ten of the last twelve months.
- Supervised three accountants: set the close calendar, reviewed reconciliations, and handled appraisals. Recruited one replacement through the firm’s HR process after a resignation.
- Prepared GST workings for quarterly filing; queries from the external filer were cleared inside the same week for the last four quarters.
- Built a simple volume-and-margin forecast with sales; flagged two loss-making lanes before the annual contract round. This is an internal observation, not a published market share claim.
- Coordinated the year-end audit PBC list; reduced open items at the interim visit by sending bank and inventory evidence in the first request batch.
Second fictional role, compressed: “Peninsula Retail Group, Assistant finance manager, 2018–2022. Owned stock-provision workings for 20 stores; investigated shrinkage exceptions with store ops; supported the previous manager on the annual budget model.”
Manager files often fail by stacking adjectives (“strategic, visionary, hands-on”) and by claiming enterprise results they did not own. If the CEO’s strategy deck said “grew ASEAN revenue 40%”, that is not your bullet unless you can say what you personally did and how you know the number. Prefer team size, calendar reliability, audit outcomes you sat in, and decisions you were allowed to make.
Add a short “Selected initiatives” block if the extra page is warranted: a system migration you chaired, a shared-service handover, a union or staff-communication process you ran. Keep each initiative to two lines. This is not a white paper.
Skills and systems: the actual stack (for this fiction, SAP company code knowledge, Excel models, a consolidation add-in). Governance: GST, audit PBC, delegation of authority. People: appraisals, roster for close week, vendor of the external audit. Memberships: a real ISCA or equivalent membership if it exists. Do not invent fellow status.
Look at accounting and finance jobs and the finance jobs article for how local ads name controllership versus FP&A versus treasury. Align the summary to one of those families. A manager applying to every family at once will look unfocused.
Annotated header, dates, and file hygiene
Name: the name you use on identification and on LinkedIn, so HR can match files. Phone: a number you answer. Email: not a joke. Location: “Singapore” is enough. If you are overseas, write the city you are in and “Available for video interviews; can start in Singapore from [month] subject to pass approval” when that is true. Do not add a nationality adjective to the name line.
Dates: month and year are enough. Use the same dates on MyCareersFuture and LinkedIn. If you did two jobs in one year, show the overlap honestly. If a firm changed its trading name, use the name on your payslip or appointment letter and put the new name in brackets if needed.
File name: Aisha_Rahman_Finance_Manager_2026.pdf. Page margins that print on A4. Black text. No watermark. No “Confidential – do not circulate” on a cold application; you are circulating it.
If an agency will submit you, send them this same file. Log the client through the recruiters you have licence-checked. Do not let someone restyle your document into a template that puts a photo back in the header.
How to rewrite a weak bullet into a template bullet
Weak: “Responsible for customer service and other duties as assigned.” Stronger fictional rewrite: “Handled email and chat for the prepaid-card desk (queue of about 40 tickets a day); wrote three macros that filled the standard KYC reply so new agents could send a consistent answer.”
Weak: “Helped with events.” Stronger: “Ran registration for a 120-person vendor day; closed the name list the night before and briefed five ushers on the hall plan.”
Weak: “Increased sales significantly.” Stronger, still fictional and modest: “Took over eight existing accounts in the east region; kept seven at renewal and documented the lost account’s reason for the next tender.” You still need a real basis. If you cannot name eight accounts, do not use that rewrite.
Weak: “Team player with excellent communication skills.” Delete it. Put a bullet that shows a briefing, a handover, or a difficult conversation you documented.
Weak: “Used AI tools to improve productivity.” Stronger: “Drafted first-pass shift notes with a writing tool, then edited them against the logbook before sending to the night supervisor.” Tools are fine. Magic productivity percentages are not, unless you measured them.
Practise this rewrite on your last role this week. Four strong bullets beat twelve duties. Then tailor the first two bullets to one advertisement from jobs by skill or a company page.
Sector flavour without fake official claims
Healthcare (fictional flavour): name the setting (community hospital, polyclinic, private clinic), the patient group you are allowed to describe without confidential detail, and the systems (a real EMR name you used). Do not invent wait-time statistics for a real cluster. See healthcare listings.
Hospitality (fictional flavour): outlet type, peak covers you can defend, and a hygiene or service recovery story. Do not claim a hotel’s official star rating if you are not sure. See hospitality jobs.
Education: level, subject, class size, and a piece of assessment or pastoral work. Do not invent PSLE or national-exam statistics for a school. See education jobs.
Construction and M&E: project type, your package, and safety process. Do not claim a developer’s official award. See construction and M&E jobs.
IT: product, stack, environment (production or not), and on-call reality. Do not claim “industry-leading uptime” without a metric you owned. See IT jobs in Singapore.
In every sector, the template stays the same. Only the nouns change. That is why one section order is enough.
What to do with the template this week
Copy the section order into a blank document. Paste your current roles. Delete the personal-particulars table if it is still there. Rewrite the latest role using the mid-career or manager bullet shape. Write a four-line summary that names one title family. Export and open on a phone. Apply to three roles you can defend, including one on MyCareersFuture if the match exists. Save a second variant only if you have a second title family.
If you also need a letter, keep the resume as the evidence and let the letter explain a switch, a move, or a specific fit. The search process around both documents is in the complete job search guide. Channel choice is in the websites article. Interview stories should reuse these bullets; see interview preparation.
Employers designing application forms should read TAFEP and, if a pass may follow, the Fair Consideration Framework. Candidates should not compensate for a bad form by volunteering a photo. How employers can hire the right talent is the companion for the other side of the table.
Where this template should live on JobVacancySG
Copy the section order into the resume upload, then confirm the same dates on your profile. If you want a public page a consultant can open on a phone, publish a Career Passport. New users start at register. Browse jobs after the file is ready, not before.
When the template mentions place, use a real planning area or station. CBD examples map to Downtown Core and Raffles Place. Campus-to-home commutes in the East often match Tampines or Bedok MRT. Functional keywords belong on jobs by skill and, for technical graduates, Python jobs.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official Singapore resume template?
No. MOM and WSG do not issue a mandatory CV layout for private-sector jobs. Public-sector portals may have their own fields. Use a simple merit-based order, keep personal fields off the page, and follow any portal instructions when they are about work history and eligibility rather than decorative identity data.
Can I use a colourful two-column design?
You can, but many large employers still parse a simple single column more reliably, and many managers print in black and white. If you use columns, keep the text selectable, not locked in an image. A graphic that exists only to hold a photograph is a step in the wrong direction.
Should the graduate, mid-career, and manager templates include nationality?
No. Nationality is not required on these templates. TAFEP says nationality should not be requested on application forms. Eligibility for a citizen-only public role is a form question, not a header badge. Do not add a flag or a passport line to “look official”.
How do I show a promotion in the same company?
Stack two title blocks under one employer, each with its own dates and bullets. The promotion is visible in the titles and in the change of span. You do not need a press-release sentence about the firm’s growth.
What if I have many short contracts?
Group them under a heading such as “Contract assignments, 2022–2026” with the agency or client, title, dates, and two bullets each, or list the strongest three in full and summarise the rest. Singapore IT and project markets understand contract books. Label them as contract. See contract jobs for how employers describe those roles.
May I add a photo if the template looks empty?
No. Empty space is not a reason for a headshot. TAFEP’s guidance is that photos should not be requested and that selection should be on merit. Add another bullet, a skills line, or a project. Do not fill the header with a portrait to look “more Singaporean” or “more senior”.
